Navigating Workers' Compensation Claims in Georgia
Workers’ compensation law in Georgia is a specialized arena—complex in its statutory framework, high-stakes for injured workers, and deeply competitive for attorneys who practice in this field. Results and reputation are what separate the competent from the extraordinary. Rohan Law has spent 15 years fighting for injured workers. I’ve earned the trust of my peers as evidenced by my election as President of the Georgia Injured Workers’ Advocates (GIWA), the premier advocacy organization in this state.
The Complexity of Georgia Workers’ Compensation Law
Unlike traditional personal injury cases, workers’ compensation is a no-fault system designed to provide medical care and wage benefits to employees injured on the job. On paper, the system should be straightforward. In practice, it rarely is.
Insurance carriers and employers often take aggressive stances, disputing claims, minimizing payouts, or denying coverage outright. Injured workers find themselves in a vulnerable position, unsure of their rights, and overwhelmed by procedural hurdles. For attorneys, these cases demand both legal precision and an empathetic touch. It isn’t enough to know the statute—you must anticipate the insurance company’s tactics, marshal the right medical evidence, and understand the nuances of administrative hearings before the State Board of Workers’ Compensation.
All while acting as a significant caretaker of your clients, managing their appointments, medication refills, transportation issues, interpreters, and follow up questionnaires. Daily attention is required by a well trained staff to closely monitor a litigated workers’ compensation claim. Any error could substantially decrease the value of the claim.
Why Competence Matters
For attorneys considering referral relationships or partnerships in the workers’ compensation space, competence is not optional. A poorly handled claim can leave a client permanently disadvantaged, with unpaid medical bills or inadequate wage benefits. Worse, it can damage the referring attorney’s reputation. Your referral is your stamp of approval. We take that very seriously.
My practice is built on meticulous case preparation and aggressive negotiation. From initial claim filings to appeals, we focus on strategies that ensure our clients receive not just medical treatment, but the full scope of benefits the law allows. This includes temporary total disability (TTD), temporary partial disability (TPD), permanent partial disability (PPD), and, when applicable, catastrophic designations that fundamentally alter the client’s long-term outlook. Even something as simple as mileage reimbursements require constant attention. Any milage not submitted within 365 is forfeited.
Law firms know that reputation is currency in this field. Success stories, favorable verdicts, and peer recognition drive referrals, results, and client’s trust. Rohan Law works tirelessly to ensure each client is happy and understands the reasons for the results on their case. Client education is a hallmark of case management.
The Role of the Georgia Injured Workers’ Advocates (GIWA)
As President, I guide the organization in its mission to:
- Advocate at the legislative level to ensure laws are fair and just for injured workers, countering the constant push from insurance lobbies to limit benefits.
- Foster collaboration among attorneys who share the mission of securing justice for clients in this highly technical practice area.
This leadership role is not honorary—it reflects the trust of my peers across Georgia, who recognize my experience, judgment, and ability to push the profession forward.

Reputation as a Differentiator
In today’s competitive legal market, reputation isn’t just about courtroom victories. It’s about demonstrating leadership, credibility, and trustworthiness across the board.
For attorneys, referring a workers’ compensation case to me means peace of mind: you know your client will receive skilled representation, and your own reputation will be strengthened in the process. Our record of leadership and results provides a powerful narrative that sets my firm apart in a crowded marketplace. As president of GIWA, I not only practice workers’ compensation law at a high level, but I also help shape the conversation about how the law should evolve in Georgia. That is a credential that resonates with clients, referral partners, and the broader legal community.
